The drive shaft on all wheel drive vehicles is fixed by a fixed clip inside the spline, which is locked onto the PTU or RDM spline shaft.

To overcome the fixed ring, a large force must be suddenly applied to it. The current holding force of PTU is 350-450N, and it may increase in the future. Attempting to pry the drive shaft off the PTU or RDM may damage the drive shaft.

To prevent damage to the drive shaft, the DT-51329-A is suitable for the grooves provided on Equinox, Terrain, XT5, Acadia, and Envision drive shafts and is used in conjunction with the previous J-02619-A slide hammer to release the snap ring.

DT-51329-A is connected around the drive shaft, with its two halves fastened together to secure it in the groove. Then install the slide hammer and use it to disassemble the drive shaft. The removal force is 2000-6000N @ 50mm/min. Unauthorized methods can damage the drive shaft.
